Sumo Experience & Chanko Nabe Lunch in Tokyo!


This is a must-do activity for every Sumo- and Japan-Lover!

The sacred Japanese national sport of Sumo has a long history, and admirers all over the globe. However, for many people (Japanese included) it is difficult to grasp the deep meaning of the fights themselves, as well as the rituals involved. Here former professional Sumo wrestlers will teach all there is to know about this sport in English, and visitors can even face them in a (playful) duel. After the workshop Chanko Lunch will be served, a is Japanese-style hotpot, said to give a lot of stamina, and made by the wrestlers themselves. This activity will allow participants to get a deep understanding of the Sumo sport, and to interact with wrestlers from close-up.

On Mondays this tour will take place in Asakusa, on Thursdays in Ryogoku.

    Chanko-nabe hot pot will be served for lunch. You can try the delicious traditional food eaten by sumo wrestlers and learn more about their diet. The nutritious meal has been cooked by the wrestlers themselves and includes hot pot with seasonal ingredients (not vegetarian), rice, miso, salad, fries, yuzu citrus dessert and a non-alcoholic drink. Highly popular Japanese pork cutlet "Tonkatsu" will also be served for each guest.

Remarks

1. The show is offered every Monday from 11:45 am in Asakusa and every Thursday from 11:45 am in Ryogoku
2. Several people from the audience will be picked to dress in a funny sumo suit (don't worry, you will not need to take off any clothes) and challenge the former stars in a duel. Photo time will end this session.
Note: Not every visitor will be chosen to duel with the sumo wrestlers.
