In this issue we zoom in on “organic food” which is popular among people who are highly conscious of their beauty and health. Above is a French marché type store interior. Below is the juice stand corner, extremely popular for the juices made on the spot using fresh ingredients!

One organic SPOT in Omotesando that you just can’t miss is Natural House. Boasting a history of over 30 years, it is a long-established market with 30 stores nationwide. Last year, in 2011, the main Aoyama store was completely renovated and it seems like their fan base is expanding even further.

“In addition to lifestyle magazines, we have recently had more interviews with mode fashion and men’s magazines as well. We feel that people who are not only conscious of their health but who also want to incorporate ethical concepts into their lifestyles are focusing more on organics. It just might be that the public’s standard of wealth is starting to change.”

Natural House also has a wide range of store brand products as well. The products we’ll be introducing here are only available at this store and are recommended as gifts should you have trouble choosing one.

There are 8 varieties of juice available at the stand. You can choose one based on your personal goals such as beauty, health care and more. This is a combination of apple juice with the “C-Shine”, that includes kiwi and parsley, topped with “cobon” (a fermented yeast). Ideal for people wanting beautiful skin. 400 yen

The deli corner is popular for being able to quickly and easily getting a hold of healthy organic food. In addition to prepared foods, there is also a wide variety of bento lunches as well. There is an extensive selection of Japanese menu items as well such as dishes that use konnyaku and takikomigohan (rice cooked with mixed ingredients). Prepared foods: 298 yen for 100g, etc.

Rice flour cookies made from a mix of organic flour and domestic rice flour. There are also Japanese flavors such as mattcha green tea that uses handmade mattcha. 399 yen

There are a wide variety of retort pouch rice products including 5 grain rice, brown rice and brown rice with red beans. 263 yen, etc.

There are also numerous organic cosmetics available as well. These are skin toners made from such things as sponge gourd and aloe, favored in Japan since ancient times as elements for beautiful skin. Of course the ingredients are all organic and of domestic origin! 2,730 yen for 150㎖, etc.

Basic skin care products and makeup cosmetics are available too. This series doesn’t use synthetic polymers, silicon, artificial coloring or artificial perfumes and is gentle on the skin. 25g base cream for 4,200 yen, etc.

Lunch and dinner are served buffet style. During lunch hours (11am - 2pm, from 10:30 on weekends and holidays), the prices are1,260 yen for adults and 630 yen for children (2-6 years old). For dinner (5:30pm - 11pm) the price is 2,000 yen for adults

Crayonhouse, also a long-established store, is store that embraces a safe and natural life from the perspective of women and children. From the B1 floor to the 3rd floor, in addition to the restaurant that uses organic ingredients, there is a wide selection of organic foods, cosmetics, cotton products, picture books and toys.

“I feel that in these last couple of years there has been an increase in people who are concerned about food safety and health. Our restaurant offers numerous menu items that abundantly uses vegetables and I hope that you will thoroughly enjoy the deliciousness of the in-season ingredients.”

This was the lunch menu on the day of our report. There are approximately 6 types of dishes for lunch and 9 for dinner, which change every day. Everything from the ingredients to the seasonings are organic!

On sale in the “vegetable market” next to the restaurant, are organic produce and food and detergents made from all natural ingredients. Baby food is also available. Vegetable paste 399 yen, etc.

The 3rd floor is mainly organic cosmetics and organic cotton products. The photo is of baby clothes that are gentle on the skin adorned with an image of the shop’s original character. T-shirt 2,600 yen, etc.

The store offers approximately 30 brands of cosmetics, one of the largest in Tokyo! Essential during the summer and fall are the herb based insect repellants that can be used on babies as well. 50㎖ 683 yen, etc.
